Understanding the Advanced Learner Loan

If you’re aged 19 or over, and are thinking about further education or training, you might qualify for an Advanced Learner Loan. It’s easy to apply and you won’t have to pay anything back until you’re earning over £21,000 a year.

The loan can be taken out to cover the fees of a range of level 3 and 4 courses at Middlesbrough College, including the Access to Higher Education Diploma. It isn’t based on your household income, there are no credit checks, and better still, if you get a loan to study an Access to Higher Education course then go on to complete a Higher Education course, your Advanced Learner Loan repayments will be written off.

The loan is paid directly to the college for the cost of your course tuition fees so you don’t have to pay anything up front to study. You don’t have to borrow the full amount available – you can pay for some of the course yourself if you prefer. The minimum amount available is £300.

To see all of the courses available for the Government’s Advanced Learner Loan visit the Middlesbrough College website.
